Birchover is situated on a hilltop, beneath Stanton Moor with its 9 Ladies Stone Circle. This well established event takes place over the weekend of 8/9 June from 1.00 pm to 5.30 pm, with 12 gardens open for you to visit, varying in style from traditional cottage gardens to modern examples.Traditional, home-made cakes and teas will be served in the Village Hall. As you walk around the village you will be warmly welcomed to view Chris Fleming and Mark Eaton at work, showing their skills in woodwork and stone masonry respectively. Chris will demonstrate his handcrafted green wood working and will exhibit his works. Mark and James Eaton will show off their fine letter workings in stone. There will be a display of paintings to view and purchase (local scenes, wildlife and wildflowers by Joanne Eaton). Plant sales, elderflower champagne, craft stalls and a ‘Birchover in Black & White’ post card display will be dotted around the village in the main street or in gardens for you to enjoy.Historically Birchover Church was a big part of the Open Gardens weekend with its displays of flowers and it will be open for you to view. In 1977, a young artist (Brian Clarke) was living in the Old Vicarage next-door and he designed and installed a set of beautiful stained glass windows.Come and join the oldest continuous Open Gardens in Derbyshire from 1.00 pm to 5:30pm.£5 for an Adult ticket and Children free of charge, combined with free parking on the playing field makes Birchover Open Gardens a fun and affordable event for everyone.
