Festive Printmaking at Chatsworth

Learn how to create, carve and print a linocut block this Christmas, which you can use to print your own wrapping paper, Christmas cards and gift tags.

This introductory workshop explores one of the many techniques of printmaking, linocut. This is a relief printing technique where you carve your design into a sheet of linoleum using a selection of specialist tools, before adding ink and pressing against paper. The image that is transferred to the paper is your print.

You will be shown how to produce a lino print and then invited to experiment with this printmaking process, overlaying and combining colours, as well as preparing surfaces on which to print.

At the end of the session, you'll have a series of gift tags, cards and wrap in your own design, as well as a lino block you can take away with you to continue printmaking at home.
