Tour and Introduction to the History of The Old Original Bakewell Pudding Shop. Bakewell Pudding Making Experience and Afternoon Tea!
The Old Original Bakewell Pudding Shop, located in the historic market town of Bakewell in Derbyshire’s Peak District National Park is widely recognised as the birthplace of the celebrated Bakewell Pudding.
The historic building, which dates from the 1800s, comprises an 80-seater licensed restaurant on the upper floor and a delightful gift shop and bakery counter on the ground floor.
This iconic shop proudly preserves the original secret recipe, which is a closely guarded tradition and all our Bakewell Puddings are still made by hand from a secret recipe and are sent to many corners of the globe using the popular “Post a Pudding” service. While others may attempt to imitate it, this is the only authentic recipe in the world.
With an annual production exceeding 125,000 puddings distributed worldwide via online sales and in-store purchases.
Jemma and Nick Beagrie proudly serve as owners and founders of both The Bakewell Bakery and The Old Original Bakewell Pudding Shop. These distinguished establishments are integral to their growing portfolio of hospitality venues and guest accommodations throughout Derbyshire; all managed under The Beagrie Group.
We are delighted to invite Visit Peak District Members to this exclusive event where you will be treated to a tour of the shop and then to try your hand at making your very own Bakewell pudding using our secret recipe in our test bakery.
The afternoon will begin with an introduction and tour, a Bakewell Making experience followed by a delicious afternoon tea whilst your puddings are baking, then packaged for you to take home.
Jemma is particularly thrilled to introduce this since this is where her career began. Jemma started working at the pudding shop as a young student. What started as an early role within the business quickly developed into a lifelong passion for hospitality and a deep commitment to preserving the heritage of this iconic brand.
We look forward to welcoming you all.
