Derby Season of Light returns for 2026 with inspiring arts activities

Parade Time: Starts at 4:00 PM
Location: City centre, starting from St Peter's Cross and moving through the city towards the Market Place / Cathedral Quarter areas alongside the Christmas Lights Switch On & Festive Derby Opening.
Cost: Free and open to all
Organisers: Presented by Surtal Arts in partnership with Derby LIVE.
Community Procession: Local schools, community groups, and families carrying eco-friendly, sustainable handmade lanterns.
Performances: Vibrant cultural dance and musical accompaniment leading into the city's festive countdown.
Festive Activities: Followed by the official Christmas lights switch-on, live entertainment, and seasonal attractions like the Cathedral Quarter Ice Rink and Nordic Bar.
