Rocked-up traditional folk music

About

19th July 2024 7:30 pm - 10:00 pm

Gaelforce is a Celtic Folk Rock band from Yorkshire, playing a mixture of rocked-up traditional folk music, self-penned songs in the traditional style, and a few jigs and reels for good measure.

Gaelforce are:

  • Chris Dyson – fiddle, vocal – ex-Mike Harding Band, Roisin Ban.
  • Geoff Taylor – electric guitars – ex-Duncan McFarlane Band. Sammy Dowgill – bass, vocals.
  • Jim Brierley – drums, vocals. In January 2023 Gaelforce played at the Great British Folk Festival, winning the Introducing Stage public vote award.

The band have recorded and released the album ‘Equinox’, which is available on most digital platforms including Spotify, Amazon Music and Apple Music.

“A very deserving win on the Introducing Stage; and going on to play main stage to a capacity, thoroughly entertained audience, the following day.” – Stephen, Solid Entertainments Festival Director, Great British Folk Festival.

“Superb musicians. Well-schooled in Irish trad’, yet with more modern interpretations. Highly Recommended.” – Irish Eye

“Fantastic night. Gaelforce were amazing, we could have listened to them all night.” – Cathy Hopkinson – Otley Labour Rooms
