Japan Fest Buxton Returns this September with a Celebration of Japanese Culture

Buxton, UK – Sunday 27th September – Japan Fest Buxton returns to the beautiful Pavilion Gardens this autumn, bringing a full day of Japanese culture, entertainment, and food to the heart of the Buxton from 11am to 5pm. Visitors can enjoy an exciting mix of traditional and contemporary Japanese experiences, with live performances, interactive activities, cultural demonstrations, shopping, and authentic Japanese street food throughout the day. 

Live Stage Performances

The festival's main stage will feature an exciting lineup celebrating both traditional and contemporary Japanese culture. Visitors can enjoy a special performance from internationally acclaimed Japanese singer-songwriter MION, energetic live shows from Meian Maid Café, the precision and discipline of Gaku Shi Juku Kendo Kai, the powerful rhythms of Leicester Taiko, and vibrant idol performances from Sovereign. Traditional Japanese music will be represented by Aki Kitagawa on koto, while LeLe will bring energetic J-pop to the stage. The day will also feature a spectacular Hatsune Miku tribute performance from DJ Manimal & Cerisina, before culminating in a colourful Cosplay Parade, celebrating anime, manga, and gaming culture.

Interactive Activities for All Ages

Throughout the day, visitors can immerse themselves in a variety of hands-on Japanese cultural experiences. Activities include the ever-popular Meian Maid Café, where guests can enjoy games and entertainment, as well as shogi (Japanese chess), fox mask painting, kimono try-ons, origami, and Japanese calligraphy. Visitors can also take part in Japanese tea tasting, offering the opportunity to sample authentic teas.

Food, Shopping & Traders

Japan Fest Buxton will feature stall holders offering Japanese food, quirky crafts, handmade goods and unique finds. Visitors can enjoy Japanese treats while exploring a marketplace inspired by both modern Tokyo and traditional Kyoto.
