This summer, join Churnet Valley Railways on selected Saturdays in June through August as we step back in time, right into the shoes of history’s most famous and beloved detectives. Live out your inner Holmes, Clouseau, or Drew as you spend the evening dining on fine food, fine drink, and, most importantly, solving the mystery

With two uniquely crafted mysteries for 2025 to crack, you’ll need every ounce of cunning you have to pick up subtle hints in the story, interview suspicious-looking characters to discover the truth, and search our vintage restored steam train for clues.

"Here's to the Bride & Vroom!" - This will be performed on June and August trains

It’s 1928, and we welcome back Sinclair Finkelstein, the renowned archaeologist, who has today married the much younger Lady Alice Burgoyne. Egyptology, a fugitive on the run, and a Tooting car man collide in a night filled with enigma and intrigue. Solve the clues, unravel the mysteries of the mummies, and uncover who committed the crime.

"Kintsugi Gold" - This will be performed on July and September trains

It's 1946, immerse yourself in the "Potterverse" as the finalists of the Corbie. P. Abstract Expressionism Prize (CPAEP) gather at the Churnet Valley Railway. You don’t have to be potty to join in the fun or have a smashing time. Who will crack under the pressure?
