A neat little village set high up on a ledge above the beautiful Lathkill Dale.
There are some pretty little cottages in this quiet village and spectacular views over the surrounding hills and dales. There was some serious lead mining nearby and remnants can be seen all around. 2 miles south west of Bakewell, the village is only linked to nearby Haddon Hall by footpaths.
Things to do; A very pleasant village, either to just amble around or to set off from on more strenuous walks through some excellent White Peak countryside. Paths lead steeply down to the delightful Lathkill Dale where the remarkably clear water runs over a series of picturesque weirs down to the ancient bridge at Conksbury. Wooded slopes and craggy rocks line the dale sides where there are remnants of old lead mines and nature reserve. Nearby are good camp and caravan sites, holiday homes and also some guest accommodation is available in the village. There are small cafes and a hotel in the village, but no shop.
