The Buxton Crescent Experience is a unique, all‑weather visitor attraction set within the beautifully restored Grade I listed Buxton Crescent Hotel. Here, you’ll discover how a town shaped by water emerged, developed, and thrived over the last 10,000 years.

The Crescent has been Buxton’s architectural jewel since it first opened in 1789. Explore how this iconic Georgian building shone during its Georgian and Victorian heyday, and how it was meticulously restored before reopening in 2020 as a heritage landmark for everyone to enjoy.

Inside the Buxton Crescent Experience, you’ll find nine immersive exhibition rooms, each with its own theme, stories, and interactive displays. Using a blend of media, hands‑on exhibits, and digital technology, the attraction brings Buxton’s spa heritage and water story vividly to life.

Your visit includes our famous virtual reality hot‑air balloon flight over Georgian Buxton, the chance to rub shoulders with Regency high society at a glamorous ball, and a consultation with our 18th‑century apothecary.

You’ll also follow rainwater on its 5,000‑year journey through the Peak District hills and discover why Buxton’s natural spring water emerges warm beneath the Crescent. You can even bottle the water straight from the source to take home.
