Some of the UK’s finest producers can be found in Derbyshire and the Peak District and many of their delicious creations, from ice cream and chocolate to bread, meat and pastries, can be sampled at local restaurants, pubs, cafes and tea rooms.

Derbyshire’s most famous food is the Bakewell Pudding. Accidentally created by a local cook over 150 years ago, today the recipe remains a secret but you can try proper Bakewell Pudding (which is nothing like Bakewell Tart!) for yourself at the Old Original Bakewell Pudding Shop in Bakewell.

If you want to stock up on the freshest ingredients whilst here, there are many fabulous farmers’ markets and farm shops in Derbyshire and the Peak District.
