Church Cottage offers the perfect accommodation for a country break all year round with 4 luxury ensuite bedrooms, a charming lounge & snug having log burners in each room and a modern farmhouse kitchen opening to the enclosed idyllic courtyard.

The Kitchen & Dining Room

Contemporary design meets traditional features in the heart of the home. This custom-made kitchen includes all modern appliances and an aga to cater for up to 8 people around the central dining table. The patio doors with floor to ceiling glazed windows connecting to the walled courtyard for dining and relaxing outdoors throughout the year.

The Snug

Flowing from the kitchen, the snug provides a relaxed social atmosphere to share time as a group whilst preparing and cooking family meals.

The Living Room

The cosy living room breathes a calm air into Church Cottage owning to the soothing crackle of the log-burning stove and comfortable sofa arrangement with contemporary flourishes. The games cupboard provides a range of activities for all the family to compete during the cosy cottage evenings.

Bedrooms

These four king size bedrooms have their own story contributing to their individual personality each having an ensuite with underfloor heating and warming towel radiators. The themed patterned floral designs, roll-top bath and exposed beams enthuse elegance and charm in the spacious bedrooms.

Outdoor Space

A private secluded courtyard offers an extension to the house for relaxing in the summer months. The double heigh patio doors connect to the kitchen seamlessly for outdoor dining in the warm gentle Peak District evenings.

The Local Area

Filled with British charm and character, Baslow provides the perfect setting for a cosy cottage break in the Derbyshire Peak District. With a wide range of independent shops and businesses, you can find traditional sweets in Sweet Gene’s or browse the furniture & art galleries. Baslow offers a broad choice of eateries for any occasion having a café, range of pubs & restaurants and Baslow Hall for the finer dining experience.

The Peak District National Park, known for its outstanding natural beauty has so much to offer, from local market towns such as Bakewell and Buxton, its’ pretty limestone villages, and an abundance of cycling and walking routes and trails – the local edges and rockfaces are perfect for climbers of all levels.

Just around the corner is stunning Chatsworth, the famous stately home to the Duke and Duchess of Devonshire, passed down through 16 generations of the Cavendish family.

There is so much to do at Chatsworth, explore its history in a tour of the grand house, and wander at leisure through its immaculate gardens and estate. The farmyard and playground are perfect for children to play.

A visit to the Peak District countryside would not be complete without a good walk, no matter what your ability. From the doorstep are a range of local walks ranging from the flat river Derwent walks along the valleys to the steeper inclines with rewarding scenic views from Baslow Edge and Curbar Edge.

Chatsworth House is a relaxed 1.5 mile walk along the river from Church Cottage and from here there are plenty more areas to explore around the grounds of Chatsworth including the waterfall & lakes, hunting tower, café, gift shop and tea rooms in Edensor. The return walk is complimented nicely with a refreshment break by the log fire in The Devonshire Arm, The Cavendish Hotel or The Prince of Wales.

Baslow Edge offers the perfect location to enjoy the fresh air and stunning views down the valleys and to Chatsworth House. At just over a mile walk (uphill) along the old Bar Road from Church Cottage, Baslow Edge is rich in history with Wellington’s Monument and the stone. Curbar Edge is further north and creates a tidy round walk back along the river Derwent or links to Froggatt Edge & beyond for longer scenic walks across the tops. It is possible to walk along 9 edges in total to reach Ladybower Reservoir and catch the bus back after the 20+ mile walk.
