    About

The Scotsman's Pack is located in the beautiful gritstone village of Hathersage in the Peak District National Park.

Our traditional listed pub building features a welcoming bar area, seated dining rooms and a bar-side room, where four-legged friends are welcome and we host private functions. Accommodation is available in our five private en-suite rooms upstairs. All of our interior areas have been refurbished during summer 2020.

In warmer months visitors can also enjoy al fresco drinking and dining on our patio area - a picturesque, relaxing sun trap next to a bubbling trout stream.

Just a short walk away is the grave of Robin Hood's legendary fellow outlaw Little John in St Michael's Church - you can even view and sit on Little John's chair in our dining room.

Our bar and dining areas are frequented by locals and visitors alike, making for a warm, welcoming atmosphere. Due to the pub being a listed building we are unable to install a disabled toilet but there is downstairs access.

Prior to the 18th century there were few roads in Derbyshire. The Scotsman's Pack stands on one of the old tracks leading to Sheffield and the Sheffield Manor Castle.

It was a regular calling place for food and shelter for the 'packmen' who visited every farm and village in the area offering their goods and carrying news.

Our pub gets its name from Scottish packmen who sold their tweeds here to local farmers.

One of our regulars held his wedding meal here in 1934 and the receipt is framed on the wall as you enter on the left - 12 meat teas were £4, 10 shillings!
