Wingfield Station is open to the public as a heritage centre, tea room, local community amenity, event space and is also available for private and business hire.
About
Entirely run by volunteers, the Grade 2-Star listed station has been fully restored to its original May 1840 condition. It is the last surviving station building of the North Midland Railway from Derby to Leeds. The station is also the finest surviving work of its architect Francis Edward Thompson and is the World’s oldest completely original railway station building.
Wingfield Station Tea Room
Come & enjoy a friendly & social atmosphere in our tea room at the beautifully restored Wingfield Station.
A range of teas & coffees are available. Indulge in our wonderful selection of cakes from buns to cruffins, to scones, cookies, muffins & friands, always a beautifully presented offering to choose from.
We also offer savoury food from Wednesday to Sunday including filled cobs,homemade sausage rolls, quiche, turnovers and pork pies.
Other refreshments include biscuits, crisps, chocolate & Matlock Meadows tubs of ice cream.
For those of you who may be enjoying walk or on the go, takeaway cups & cake boxes are available.
Of course, your furry 4-legged well-behaved dogs are welcome to join you in the station building.
All proceeds from the tearoom sales contribute to the station and keeping it open to the public.
