Ashbourne Christmas Lights Switch On

See Ashbourne come to life with sparkling Christmas illuminations as special guest TBC accompanies the Mayor of Ashbourne Cllr. Caroline Cooper to turn on the Christmas lights at 5:30pm on Saturday 15th November in the Market Place.

Festive music and entertainment commence from 4.30pm. Star Wars and Disney's Frozen are this year's theme. Costumed characters will be on the Market Place and the man himself, Santa, Mrs Claus and their Elves will make a special visit. We have elves manning an LED photo frame, stilt walkers and an appearance of the Grinch for those who don't feel festive. Be careful of patrolling Imperial Stormtroopers on the Market Place!

A Christmas Craft Fair will be in the upper ballroom of the Town Hall from 10am till 6pm purveying hand-made Christmas themed gifts. The Ashbourne Historical Centre will remain open till 6.00pm and will provide live festive music by Forte.

Master of Ceremonies for the event will be John Haynes of Dove Radio who will be playing your Christmas favourites as well as Christmas singing for the children. This will be led by the Frozen characters from the stage.

All are invited to assemble around the Christmas tree on the Market Place ready for the big light up at 5.30pm but are welcome to savour the festive atmosphere in the Market Place from 4.30pm.

This year's proceedings will be transmitted from a large video screen so all present will get a good view and the main road from Buxton Road will be CLOSED by the Market Place.
