Set against the picturesque backdrop of Buxton’s historic surroundings used by many throughout the wartime years, this family event promises a weekend packed with nostalgia, history, and vintage charm.

Organised with enthusiasts, families, and history lovers in mind, the Buxton 1940s Weekend will feature:

• Authentic Living History Displays – Meet wartime characters, explore recreated encampments, and learn about life on the home front and front lines.
• Reenactors in Period Uniforms – Military and civilian reenactors will bring the sights, sounds, and stories of the era to life.
• Classic Military Vehicles – A fascinating display of WWII transport, from jeeps to lorries, available for viewing and photography.

Dust off your vintage finery, lace up your dancing shoes, and get ready to relive the spirit of the era! The evening promises a warm and welcoming atmosphere, complete with period décor and a true community feel. Whether you’re an experienced dancer or stepping onto the floor for the first time, dance lessons will be available to help you join in the fun.
