About

14th September 2024 - 15th September 2024 10:00 am - 5:00 pm

This year the Melbourne Festival Art & Architecture Trail features work by some of the Midlands’ best creative artists exhibiting their work in gardens, halls and local homes not usually open to the public in the heart of Melbourne. We assure you that we have done everything we can this year to ensure our hosts, helpers, artists and the public have a great weekend!

The trail consists of easy-walking loops around the central streets of Melbourne and can be started at any point. Each adult will need a Trail Wrist Band and a Trail Guide to enter the buildings, they are available from street sellers and cost just £5 per adult, under 18’s free. The Trail Guide consists of a map of Melbourne with festival sites marked and details of buildings and the artists they are hosting. . The Wrist Band is a pass permitting access to all venues - no Wrist Band = NO ENTRY.

Families are always welcome at Melbourne and each year, within the Art & Architecture Trail we have a special Family Trail for the young and the young at heart. Our theme this year is COMMOTION IN THE OCEAN a reminder of days out by the sea.

The Family Trail and lots of activities for families are included with your wristband & Trail Guide.

We also have COMMOTION IN THE OCEAN “STORY STOPS” where young visitors can have 5 minutes rest and read a book outside Melbourne Methodist Church in Church Street, in The Rectory Garden overlooking Melbourne Pool and Book House Garden in Penn Lane. Highlights include our Children’s gardens at Melbourne Rectory where you can play a game of giant chess or enjoy a perfect picnic and much more. Each afternoon children can sing and dance at Music Time and join us for a story time on the Rectory Lawn.

Although our focus is on creative art, Melbourne Festival’s concerts & performances have always been an important part of the Festival. We are excited to be back in 2022 with 3 performances. Tickets are available from our website music — Melbourne Festival
