About

22nd March 2025

James Adrian Brown, Rosie Tee and Hawksmoor join the bill amongst the first wave of acts announced for Psychic Dancehall festival.

A new electronic music and experimental music festival for the Midlands, has announced (on 24 November) its first wave of artists and early bird tickets.

Psychic Dancehall festival takes place across two venues, The Wardwick and Dubrek Studios in Derby on 22nd March 2025, bringing an unmissable selection of electronic and experimental artists to the Midlands.

The first wave of act announcements includes headliners The Utopia Strong, the kosmiche electronic trio comprised of Steve Davis (yes, the World Champion snooker player), Kavus Torabi (Knifeworld, Cardiacs, Gong) and Mike York (Coil) who are riding high of the back of their critically acclaimed 2022 album ‘International Treasure’.

They are joined by Birmingham based composer and performer Rosie Tee who conjures technicolour narratives from electronica, jazz, psych and avant-pop. She will be bringing a full band show to Psychic Dancehall showcasing her acclaimed mini-album ‘Night Creature’ which was released via her own Kikimora records imprint this year. Kikimora also join the inaugural Psychic Dancehall as curation partners, bringing a plethora of electronic artists from across the UK to showcase imaginative music you can't quite put your finger on.

Ex Pulled Apart By Horses guitarist and current electronic adventurer James Adrian Brown joins the hauntological, Krautrock excursions of Hawksmoor who recently joined the exclusive non-archival roster at Soul Jazz records.

The new act of Christian Davies of Nottingham indie-rock legends Six By Seven, TR^NKS combine big beats and shoegaze for an anthemic good time and the first six acts is completed by Derby-based producer James Glew who also oversees the monthly local Electronic Music Open Mic (EMOM) night held at Dubrek Studios.

Joining as curation partners for Dubrek Studios is Birmingham based record label and promoters Kikimora. The festival is the brainchild of Derby-based music journalist, DJ and promoter James Thornhill.

As an introductory offer to this new festival, a limited number of early bird tickets are available at just £10, with a second tier at £20 and full-price tickets going for just £30.

Psychic Dancehall festival is supported with funding from the Arts Council’s Grassroots Music Fund.

With many more acts to be announced alongside DJs and other activities, Psychic Dancehall festival is shaping up to be an unmissable snapshot of UK electronic and experimental music.
