A beautiful musical telling of the classic novel
About
18th July 2026 - 19th July 2026
2:00 pm
Based on the classic novel, The Secret Garden tells the story of Mary Lennox, a spoiled, sour, neglected girl orphaned in India who is sent to live with her reclusive uncle in Yorkshire. Her uncle, Archibold, is haunted by the loss of his wife and his worries for his ill son, Colin. Mary finds herself alone in a manor house that is always bleak, however after forming a friendship with the maid Martha and her brother Dickon and discovering of a forgotten garden, Mary transforms not only herself, but the rest of the manor too, bringing life back to a place when everything seemed lost.
This outdoor performance, presented by Collaboration Musical Theatre company, takes place in the lovely Elvaston Castle Old English Garden, the perfect setting for this musical full of hope, love and beautiful music.
Space is limited and audience members will need to bring a picnic chair with them. Due to the nature of outdoor performance it could be very hot or wet so there is the option to sit in the covered area further back, however this has limited space, so we advise audience members to wear a hat and sunscreen if it is hot or waterproofs if it is wet. We ask that audience members respect the view of others and therefore umbrellas will not be permitted to ensure everyone can see clearly.
There will be an interval with refreshments and this is included in the 2.5hrs run time.
