West Hallam Well Dressing

Well Dressings are works of art created by hand using natural materials such as petals and seeds by groups of dedicated volunteers.

Dedication: July 11th, 11:00 noon

There are normally eight wells , situated along the Village (between the gate of St Wilfrid's Churchyard and School Square) and around School Square itself:

• 1. St Wilfrid’s Church Well Dressings at the gate of the churchyard, next to the Village Hall
• 2. Village Hall Well Dressings outside the Village Hall
• 3. The Village Well Dressings along The Village between the Village Hall and School Square
• 4. School Square Well Dressings around School Square

West Hallam is located just off the A609 between Smalley and Ilkeston, on the minor road from Oakwood to Ilkeston via Stanley.

Join us from 12.00pm to 4.00pm on Saturday 12^th July for the 46^th Annual West Hallam Well Dressing Festival Day to view our wonderful display of colourful and beautifully decorated wells as we help keep this ancient Derbyshire tradition alive.

Also enjoy the street entertainment, local charity and produce stalls, an arts market and a free children’s entertainment area. As the centre of our village will be closed to traffic you can stroll around and enjoy all the attractions in safety. There will also be plenty of food and refreshment outlets to suit all tastes. Whether it’s a sit down in the Village Hall or the Church for tea and cakes, a glass or two of the fizzy stuff at the prosecco bar there is something for everyone. Why not pick up a programme and enjoy seeing how many scarecrows you can find around our village. Free parking is available at the nearby Scargill CofE Primary School which is only 100 yards walk to the action. For satnav use DE7 6GU.

The organising committee look forward to welcoming you to the centre of West Hallam village. This is our biggest community event of the year. There is no entrance fee so come along and enjoy a lovely summer event.
