Itinerary Schedule
Experience Ladybower Reservoir from the Water
Begin your Peak District adventure in the stunning Upper Derwent Valley, home to the iconic Ladybower Reservoir. Surrounded by rolling hills, woodland and dramatic scenery, it's one of the most picturesque locations in the National Park—and thanks to the incredible work of Ladybower Fisheries, it's also one of the most accessible.
The Ladybower Fisheries Wheelyboat experience gives wheelchair users and people with additional access needs the opportunity to experience the reservoir from the water. Their fleet of specially adapted Wheelyboats allows visitors to enjoy fishing in complete comfort, with adapted equipment available and a fully accessible education room on site. Assistance dogs are warmly welcomed too, making this a truly inclusive outdoor experience.
Admire the view
After your time on the water, stay awhile to enjoy the breathtaking surroundings. Ladybower is home to several Miles Without Stiles routes—easy-access trails with smooth surfaces and gentle gradients that make it possible for wheelchair users and those with limited mobility to experience the beauty of the Peak District at their own pace. Enjoy the spectacular scenery from one of the many accessible viewpoints around the Upper Derwent Valley.
Discover Accessible Castleton
Explore one of the Peak District's best-loved villages. Nestled beneath the dramatic hills of the Hope Valley, Castleton combines history, independent shops and spectacular scenery with a growing reputation as one of the region's most accessible destinations.
As part of the Accessible Castleton project, the village has introduced a range of initiatives designed to make exploring easier for everyone. At the Visitor Centre, visitors can hire a Tramper all-terrain mobility scooter, opening up routes and viewpoints that would otherwise be difficult to access.
DAY TWO PM
Trying local food and drink is a must. For beer & pizza fans head to the Thornbridge Taproom in Bakewell, where award-winning locally brewed beers are served alongside delicious wood-fired pizzas in a relaxed, fully accessible setting. Assistance dogs are welcome, making it an ideal stop before heading out for the evening.
Or why not treat yourself to dinner at The Prince of Wales, Baslow, a Gold award-winning, fully accessible country pub known for its warm welcome, excellent food and dog-friendly atmosphere.
Enjoy the Peak District at Your Own Pace
Use your final day as a chance to embrace the slower pace of the Peak District.
Take a leisurely scenic drive through the Hope Valley, stopping at accessible viewpoints to admire the sweeping landscapes, ancient woodlands and dramatic gritstone edges that make this part of the National Park so special.
With accessible experiences, welcoming hospitality and thoughtfully designed routes throughout the area, it's easy to discover why the Peak District is becoming an increasingly popular destination for accessible adventures.
The Bike & Boot Hotel
The Bike & Boot is an excellent accessible base for exploring the Peak District, offering thoughtfully designed accessible bedrooms with wet rooms, step-free access throughout key public areas and accessible parking. The hotel warmly welcomes assistance dogs and has a relaxed, inclusive atmosphere, making it easy for wheelchair users to enjoy a comfortable stay close to many of the area's top accessible attractions.
