Shine A Light

Providing an after-dark experience for the whole family, the events will once again bring together awe-inspiring animations and live musical performances in stunning audio-visual displays centred around the themes of climate change and water.

The large-scale projections will take place at Cromford Mills and Elvaston Castle, with an exciting new addition at Derby Festé.

To celebrate 25 years of the twinning link between Derbyshire and Toyota City there will be a special Shine A Light projection artwork on the Guildhall in the Market Place, Derby as well as a second on Kojaku-ji temple in Toyota City.

The cutting-edge projections are unique to each venue, delivered by internationally-renowned Derbyshire-born video projection artists Illuminos, Shine A Light is designed to celebrate Derbyshire’s rich history and heritage and encourage tourism through the off peak season.

In addition to the large-scale projections, visitors will also be able to enjoy entertainment and food and drink throughout each evening for a fun-filled experience to remember.

Providing fun and entertainment for the whole family, the one-of-a-kind experiences have been commissioned by Derbyshire County Council to celebrate Derbyshire’s rich history and heritage while boosting the visitor economy.

In addition this year a unique event will take place at Derby’s Guildhall during Derby Festé on the 22 September. To celebrate 25 years of the twinning link between Derbyshire and Toyota City, projection artists Illuminos are creating two paired video projection artworks – the first created specifically for the Guildhall in Derby, the second for Kojaku-ji temple, in Toyota City, Japan. This project was part funded by the Great Britain Sasakawa Foundation. Derby Festé, Guildhall Derby 22^nd and 23^rd September 2023 and Toyota City, Japan 12^th November 2023

Tickets are £10 for adults and £6 per child (aged 4-12 inclusive, free for 3 and under). Family tickets are priced at £28 (two adults and up to three children).
