Hathersage Botanicals-Shivering Mountain Distillery
The Shivering Mountain Distillery sits on a hillside overlooking Hathersage.
About
The Shivering Mountain Distillery sits on a hillside overlooking Hathersage. Lush rhododendron bushes fill our grounds and mark a footpath previously used by Charlotte Brontë as she walked from Highlow Hall down to the Parish Church. The hall became one of Brontë’s inspirations for Thornfield Hall in the classic novel, Jane Eyre.
The distillery itself houses Little John, a hand-crafted copper Holstein still. Its name is inspired by Robin Hood’s lieutenant, who is believed to lie buried in Hathersage Parish Church graveyard.
Shivering Mountain Gin is a community enterprise. We employ local experts, suppliers, and use local botanicals and ingredients wherever possible to create a truly authentic Peak District gin experience.
We’re into quality not volume. Our focus is on highly crafted premium gins. We run small batches so we can perfect the taste and consistency. Every batch is hand-crafted by our expert and passionate team.
We’re very excited to be on this amazing journey. As our distillery evolves we’re looking forwards to offering Ginology experiences for local people and for visitors from far and wide. Our aim is to leave a lasting impression that captures the beauty, tastes and hospitality of the Peak District and its warm hearted and welcoming people.
