Wadshelf Well Dressing in the Making
Flower petals are pressed in to clay forming attractive patterns. Come and watch how they are made!
About
1st July 2024 - 5th July 2024
10:00 am - 4:00 pm
Well Dressings are made by pushing natural products into clay pressed into a wooden frame.
Firstly, the clay has to be puddled - dampened enough so it can be pressed firmly into the frame to provide an even surface for a picture to be created. Once the frame is ready, a picture which has been drawn on paper is transferred onto the clay by pricking the outline through the paper onto the clay. Finally the picture is created by "petalling", pressing natural products (petals, stone, bark, seeds and cones) into the clay to create a vibrant picture.
If you are interested in seeing how the Well dressing is made, or having a go yourself, please come and join us.
The Well Dressing will be created in Wadshelf Village Hall, Main Road, Wadshelf from Monday 1st July until Friday 5th July. We will definitely be there from 10 am until 4 pm and probably some evenings as well. All are welcome.
Parking is available opposite the well on Bradshaw Lane.
