Buxton Pottery Painting

Buxton Pottery Painting is a family run, pottery painting studio/café, based in the historic and cultural centre of Buxton. Located in the Grade 1 listed Cavendish Arcade, built between 1853 and 1854 as one of a few thermal baths Buxton provided, providing water therapies to locals and visitors looking to stay healthy, as well as get healthy. In 1900, a first floor was added, providing massage rooms for the users of the baths. It was transformed into a boutique shopping arcade in the 1980’s, boasting original features such as Minton tiles and a beautiful stained-glass canopy, designed by famous artist, Brian Clarke and it is in the old massage hall and it is under this ceiling BPP is situated.

We have worked tirelessly to transform the space after being vacant for many years, endeavouring to remain loyal to the original architecture, colours and shapes the arcade offers and we are proud to provide a unique, wonderful space to create, giving inspiration to all those that come to paint with us. In the summer months, we aim to have our roof terrace open to our customers where you can enjoy the fresh Peak district air and a cocktail from our bar whilst you paint you creation.

We are blessed to have the space and facilities to welcome those with accessibility needs, boasting an accessible lift and facilities within the arcade ensuring EVERYONE can enjoy this wonderful activity.

Whether you just want to attend one of our Paint Your Own Pot (PYOP) sessions, host a special occasion such as Hen activity, Pre wedding night activity, a corporate session, a family gathering or a child’s party, we can provide you something that you will create memories doing and cherish forever.

We pride on ourselves on providing around 90% of our bisque from UK suppliers and mainly source it from a Derbyshire based bisque supplier. We are collaborating with local food and drinks suppliers, Buxton Roasters for our coffee, cake, and sweet treats from Crumbs Bakery in Buxton and savoury food from Sett Valley Café in Hayfield.

Once you have created your piece, BPP glazes it and fires it in our inhouse kiln, giving your piece the sparkle and protection it needs to provide years of use and memories of a time gone by.
