Explore the unusual sites of Longshaw's past, from millstone quarries to packhorse routes.
The visitor centre, housed in the Shooting Lodge, is the ideal starting point for Longshaw and the Peak District. Note: Moorland Discovery Centre only open to the public for certain events and during school holidays. The Longshaw Estate also has a tea room, providing the perfect post-walk treat and cup of tea. Enjoy delicious home-baked local food, using produce from the estate and the Peak District. Daily specials created using produce from their new kitchen garden. All food comes with wonderful views.
The Longshaw Estate can be easily accessed by public transport, so why not leave your car at home.
Hop onboard our summer open top bus service, The Peak Sightseer, services start on 24 May, running daily until 21 September 2025, then weekends only from 27 September - until 25 October 2025.
The Blue Route service runs hourly between Chatsworth and Mam Tor – alight at Longshaw Lodge for Padley Gorge and the Longshaw Estate. Download a timetable here
Alternative car free options include:
Train: Use Grindleford Station. From there, it's a 1.5 mile walk on a footpath, uphill, to the cafe and visitor facilities, through Padley Gorge ancient oak woodland. For train timetables visit nationalrail.co.uk/
Bus: services from Sheffield and the Peak District. Alight at Fox House, which is a short walk from Longshaw. For bus timetables visit travelderbyshire.co.uk
