    Sett Valley Café

We’re a cute little Café in the scenic village of Hayfield in the High Peak, just 15 miles from Manchester.

    About

We are a tiny café with just 8 covers inside and 30 outside. Situated in the village of Birch Vale, just off the popular Sett Valley Trail. On the border of the Peak District National Park and Pennine Bridleway. We are lucky to have many regular customers who come from near and far. Some visit us several times a week, and some even daily. There is always friendly banter and they get rewarded with free drinks as part of our loyalty scheme.

The team consists of 15 individuals who help make the café the wonderful place it is to work and visit. Driven with a passion for good food and customer service is what motivates us in the 6 years we have been open.

When you enter the café, you are immediately confronted with the chiller and cake cabinet, brimming with sweet and savoury delights. Customers visiting for the first time often can’t quite believe it, for such a small and out of the way place to provide so much choice.

Our homemade pies have become legendary, with people visiting from miles away to sample them to either eat in or takeaway.

We bake and make all our menu in house and use local suppliers as much as possibly. Provenance is important to us, the butcher we use sources his meat from local farmers in the High Peak.

The Café has a calendar of events including “Pop up” restaurant nights, Dawn Chorus Breakfast, Bat Hunt and Supper, and twice a year we hold a craft market with local craftspeople, which draws in a loyal crowd. Every October we have a stall at the “Hayfield Apple Day”, which we have done for the past few years, selling our homemade wares, apple themed of course!

The business has a strong recycling ethic, having separate bins for different materials. All veg waste, coffee grounds and tea bags are composted. All the takeaway containers we use are biodegradable or compostable. Using other small local suppliers helps keep the local economy thriving and local people employed; sustainability regarding travel miles etc. and reliability of supply.

Plenty of covered outside seating suitable for wheelchair users. Single step into the café, not suitable for wheelchair users.
Plenty of high chairs and baby changing facilities. One unisex toilet and an onsite Bike rack available.
