Botanical Embroidery Workshop
Learn the art of botanical embroidery, using plants and flowers from the Chatsworth Garden as your inspiration.
About
5th April 2025 - 6th April 2025
Learn to create beautiful botanical embroidery inspired by the Chatsworth Garden.
Artist Lucy Freeman's contemporary embroidery style is easy to learn, quick and expressive. It's simpler than the traditional methods and produces expressive and painterly results, perfect for flowers and plants.
We will start from the absolute basics of threading a needle so all abilities are welcome. During the workshop we will sew a sampler hoop of Lucy’s four basic stitches, as well as creating your own botanical design, inspired by the Chatsworth Garden. Participants will have the opportunity to explore the garden, taking photographs and drawing to inspire your finished piece.
Lucy’s embroidery artwork will be on display throughout the workshop for inspiration, as well as a variety of drawings, templates and botanical illustrations.
Saturday 5 April, Sunday 6 April, Saturday 16 August or Sunday 17 August
