Join Chatsworth Estate Ecologist Edmund Austin and Chatsworth Landscape Team Volunteer Co-ordinator George Hoey as they discuss the important work being undertaken across the estate to monitor bird populations and manage critical habitats.

Chatsworth's bioacoustics monitoring programme uses specialised recording devices to capture the sounds of wildlife across varied habitats.

By scheduling surveys throughout the year, we’ve been able to identify a range of migratory and non-migratory species and compare our results against SSSI national averages to inform long-term habitat management.

Alongside this, we monitor bird boxes to track nesting success and ring both chicks and adults, in partnership with the British Trust for Ornithology, to gather essential data on bird populations and habitat health.

In this talk, Edmund and George will share some of our exciting findings and how they have directly influenced the way in which the estate is managed.
