Get To Know Trees: Stand Wood Tour
Join our landscape team on a walking tour of Stand Wood, learning about our interesting and one-off tree specimens.
About
11th September 2025
Join an expert from the Chatsworth Landscape Team on a two hour walking tour of Stand Wood. Stand Wood was planted and developed as a backdrop to Chatsworth House, to hide the rocky escarpment that makes up Baslow Edge. Several mature beech trees date from the 18th, or early 19th century.
Within the wood, there are native, non-native and more ornamental tree varieties, ranging from shrubs to American and Mediterranean giants. This tour will spotlight some of the more interesting and one off specimens.
There will be plenty of opportunity to speak to the Landscape team and ask questions about the tree collection, how they are managed, Stand Wood and its importance to the Chatsworth Estate.
This walking tour will take place on both Thursday 12 June and Thursday 11 September. Visit the Chatsworth website here for more information.
