Summer of Play at Calke Abbey

Summer of Play returns to Calke from 12 July – 3 September, with more activities, games, and fun in the great outdoors than ever before. With plenty to see and do all summer long, discover fun family days out, go on exciting adventures, and make lasting memories together.

The Garden of Imagination returns to the Kitchen Garden, with nine exciting play zones to explore. Charge into Adventure Avenue and tackle the giant obstacle course, try show jumping in the Hobby Horse Championships or put on a performance in The Magical Musical Theatre.

Over at Calke Explore, you can build your confidence on two wheels on a balance bike course – perfect for little ones between two and eight years old. Tackle a new course every Wednesday from 30 July to 3 September and have a go at weaving through slalom poles, balancing over bridges, and tackling ramps. Or book a private lesson with the cycle hire team, who will have you pedalling in no time.

You can also make the most of the natural play area and Tramway Trail at Calke Explore this summer. Gear up at cycle hire with a range of bikes and trailers for little ones or four-legged friends, and then enjoy a family ride through the ancient park.

There’s also plenty for families to enjoy inside the House, which is a great wet and hot weather option.  Discover hundreds of treasures inside and don't forget to visit the Nurseries on the top floor, where little ones can enjoy dressing up, jigsaws and reading.
