30th May 2026 - 31st May 2026
The Ecclesbourne Valley Railway is delighted to announce a special Model Show & Miniature Railway event at Wirksworth Station this May, bringing together an exciting range of model displays, hobby demonstrations and miniature railways.
The event is being held to raise funds for the Ecclesbourne Valley Railway Station Appeal, helping to support the continued restoration and development of the historic station building at Wirksworth.
A Celebration of Models, Engineering and Railway Heritage
Visitors can explore a wide range of displays and activities throughout the station site. With the generous support of hobby groups and enthusiasts, the event will feature:
- Model railway layouts in a variety of scales
- Remote control models
- War gaming demonstrations
- Slot car racing displays
- Miniature traction engines
- Hobby displays and modelling demonstrations
- & Plenty more to discover on the day
The event also provides a wonderful opportunity to showcase the work of the Ecclesbourne Valley Railway’s volunteers, whose dedication keeps the railway running and continues the restoration of its historic infrastructure.
Ride the Miniature Railway
Adding to the atmosphere of the day, the miniature railway will be operating with a full steam service, providing visitors the chance to enjoy a classic miniature train ride during their visit.
The miniature railway is always a highlight for younger visitors and families, and seeing the steam engines in action adds to the authentic railway atmosphere that makes Wirksworth Station such a special place to visit.
Supporting the Ecclesbourne Valley Railway Station Appeal
All proceeds from the event will go directly towards the Ecclesbourne Valley Railway Station Appeal, supporting the restoration and future development of the historic station building at Wirksworth.
This important project will help the railway continue to grow as a visitor attraction, community hub and heritage site for generations to come.
By attending the event, visitors are helping to preserve an important piece of Derbyshire’s railway heritage.
