Calke Abbey 'Wonder World: Earth' book trail – 14th to 22nd Feb 2026

Pull on your wellies, wrap up warm and discover the curious world beneath your feet at Calke Abbey! Learn many fascinating facts about life underground - from minibeasts to wiggly worms. This self-led trail is inspired by Wonder World: Earth by Ben Lerwill and is sure to be an incredibly fun day out. No booking needed, copies of the book are available at the shop.

Half term fun at Hardwick Hall – 14th to 22nd Feb 2026

Half term has never been more ‘love’ly! Explore the exciting Elizabethan themes of St Valentines through outdoor play and crafts. Booking not required, all the activity is free. For non-members of the National Trust visitor admission fees apply. Find out more here.

Roar & Explore! At Tropical Butterfly House - 14th to 22nd Feb 2026

Learn how to train a dinosaur and grab a ‘Roar and Explore!’ Jurassic Journal that includes some roartastic challenges! Find fascinating fossils, spot fancy dress prizes, colouring competitions and a whole load of fun! Book online!

Orienteering fun at Kedleston Hall - 20th Jan to 31st March 2026

At Kedleston Hall, get the whole family involved and grab a map to explore the parkland at your own pace! The route includes slopes, uneven ground, gates, and livestock. Free event, general admission fees apply. Check website for opening times.

Quacky Quest in Carsington Water, Tittesworth Water and Upper Derwent Valley - 14th to 22nd Feb 2026

Get your little ones outside this half term to have a quacking good time on the Quacky Quest to find Sally and Martin’s (not-so) feathery friends. Once you safely return one of their friends, take him to Derwent Café at Fairholmes and collect your prize for your great duck-detective skills! Find out more here!

Half Term at Great British Car Journey - 9th to 22nd Feb 2026

There's so much happening at Great British Car Journey over Half Term. You can take part in the Numberplate Hunt where little ones seek out different cars in the museum following clues to win a model car! Kid's can go free over half term and on the weekend (17th - 18th Feb) they are offering a family ticket for a special price of £29.95.
