What's On - our handy guide for things to do for all the family this half term. Check out the events at some of our favourite attractions or just head out into the countryside and enjoy one of our family friendly trails.
New Life on the Farm at The National Forest Adventure Farm - 10 to 25 February
This February Half Term, the farm will all be about New Life as we enter the most magical season of the Farming calendar. Say 'hello' to the cute new arrivals in the Animal Barn and on the Ewe Maternity Ward, have a go at feeding the baby lambs. and try your hand at farming activities.
Be sure to go on the new ‘Spot the Sheep’ Tractor & Trailor Ride, you might just recognise a few names of the star-worthy sheep. Don’t forget that your ticket will also allow access to the whole site, including the huge indoor soft play and outdoor adventure zones! Find out more here
Family Fun at Calke Abbey - 12 to 29 February
Go on an adventure and immerse yourself in nature on a self-guided family trail. Tap into all your senses and see what new things you discover along the way.
Take a trip to the blossom arch in the Pleasure Grounds and walk through the tunnel and admire an array of handmade blooms mirroring nature’s transformation. Find out more here
FebFest at The Children’s Country House, Sudbury - 10 to 25 February
The house transforms into a hub of excitement for FebFest, featuring a myriad of activities. Look out for local habitat on the wildlife cameras, catch captivating tales narrated by the Storytelling Team and enjoy a warm drink and something to eat in the Fairytale Forest Café.

Hands on at Hardwick Hall - 10 to 25 February
Explore the delights of natural play. With activity stations in the Stableyard, the mud kitchen and bamboo chutes set are where young adventurers thrive. Try the family trail and become a budding bird expert and navigate through Lady Spencer’s wood armed with spotter sheets available from Visitor Reception.

Discover tales of local folklore and ancient history with the Family Folklore Walk from Edale - 13 February
Join a guided 8km circular walk of the Vale of Edale and explore the beauty of the High Peak with an experienced guide who can tell you all about the landscape and history that surrounds you. Ideal for families with children over the age of 10 years old.
Booking is essential. To book, please visit the website. Dogs on a short lead are welcome but there may be some stiles.
'We Dig Dinosaurs' at The Tropical Butterfly House - 11 to 25 February
The fun Dino Trail is packed with clawsome challenges for the brave that will have you quaking in your boots and roaring with laughter! Complete the challenge sheet to claim your sweet treat reward!

Discover Ilam Park using all your senses in a Winter Sensory Trail - 1 to 25 February
Look for sights, sounds and sensory experiences that connect you to nature. On Thursday 22 February, create some beautiful and natural clay mandalas with drop-in workshops throughout the day.
Collect materials from around the park and create your clay mandala, guided by workshop leaders to help you create patterns using the natural materials you have collected. Find out more here
Go Wild for Winter at Kedleston Hall - 16 to 25 February
Follow a trail through the grounds with activities from ‘Winter Wellbeing’ to ‘Icey-spy’ where families can have a go at nature spotting.
The ranger team will be offering bird box-making experience on Wednesday 21 February (11am-1pm). Construct a nesting box and encourage wildlife at home. £6 per person - under 5s must be accompanied by an adult. Admission charges apply, select rooms in the Hall are also open every day. Half-Term Fun at The Heights of Abraham - 17 to 25 February
Head out into the fresh air for Derbyshire Half Term. Ride the cable car to explore underground illuminated caverns, hear the myths, legends and real stories of life beneath Masson Hill, or head for the film theatre to learn more about how these ancient hills and caverns were formed.

Discover the Sensory Trail at Longshaw - 10 to 25 February
Explore the grounds with a fun sensory trail. Discover more with a series of interactive stations that show you what life is like for Longshaw’s four legged residents and experience the world from a deer-fferent point of view.
Normal admission parking charges apply and is free for National Trust members. Trail sheets are £2 per sheet. See website for more details.
Severn Trent Fun Facts Trail - 10 to 25 February
Test your knowledge with the Severn Trent Fantastic fun facts quiz about your wonderful water. Pick up your free activity sheet from the visitor centre and answer all the questions as you follow the trail.

Crescent Crafts at the Buxton Crescent Experience - 22 February
Craft, build, play and explore: there’s also water-themed sensory bags, doll’s house, dressing up, tea set and the ever popular LEGO.
No need to book tickets just drop in and enjoy the fun! Make a day of it by booking your ticket to visit the Buxton Crescent Experience; for a special family-themed tour of 9 fun and interactive rooms. (10.30am-3.30pm)
Half Term in the farmyard at Chatsworth - 10 to 25 February
Bring your young ones along to the farmyard and adventure playground this half term, where they can meet friendly animals and burn off some energy. With so many things to do for kids young and old, Chatsworth Farmyard and Adventure Playground makes for a fun day out for all the family.
Important information: Due to an exciting new redevelopment parts of the playground, including the zip wire and climbing frame, will not be accessible over half term. Find out more here
