Forest Bathing at Shining Cliff Woods

Your guide for the Forest Bathing walk will be either Kate or Bonnie from Woodland Connections.

We get asked many times, and the answer is no ... no swimming costumes are required for forest bathing! We will be immersing ourselves in the nature of the woodland. There are sometimes muddy puddles, but there will be no swimming involved!

Although the session lasts for 2 hours, the distance travelled is minimal as we slow down and invite you to join in some simple mindfulness exercises that will encourage connection to the woodland around us and help us to step away from our routine day-to-day lives. Research has found that this sensory connection brings many benefits to our mental and physical health. Benefits include strengthened immune system, lowered blood pressure, improved cardiovascular health. As well as feelings of relaxation and calm, lowering any feelings of stress or anxiety.

These mindful, nature connection walks are for adults only (16yrs and over), and whilst we love seeing dogs enjoying the woodland, we please ask that no dogs are brought to these particular walks.

Bear in mind that it can get quite chilly in the woods even on sunny days, so layer up to keep warm as we do go at a purposefully slow pace and spend some time standing still or sitting for a while. If you have a sit mat it is a good idea to bring it or just a bag to sit on to keep you dry.

Please wear sturdy footwear for the uneven and sometimes muddy paths.

The session starts and ends at the woodland car park in Shining Cliff woods. This is a private car park in the woods, directions are provided to the meeting point in your booking confirmation email, however it is not easily accessed by public transport. Please be aware that there are no toilets available during this session.

REFUNDS: Please be aware that we are unable to refund tickets with less than 7 days notice. For refunds issued with more than 7 days notice, we are unable to refund the Eventbrite booking fees.

To ensure safety for all participants and leaders, a session can be cancelled or postponed by Woodland Connections at very short notice due to forecast high winds or thunderstorms. If a suitable alternative date is not available, we will refund the full cost of the session. We will advise you if this decision has to be made either the evening before or morning of the session.
