Light and Stone - A Glossop Photo Walk

A relaxed, sociable, and inspiring photographic walk through the heart of Glossop

    About

    19th September 2026 11:00 am - 2:00 pm

    Dark Peak Photo CIC | Saturday 19th September 2026 | 11am — 2pm
£20 per person | Meeting point: Norfolk Square, outside The Bank, Glossop (look for the two red phone boxes)

Join Dark Peak Photo CIC (Carys, Dave and Andy) for a relaxed, sociable, and inspiring photographic walk through the heart of Glossop — exploring the town's rich history, distinctive millstone grit architecture, and hidden corners through the lens of your camera or smartphone.

Starting at the iconic red phone boxes on Norfolk Square, we will wander through Glossop's characterful streets and spaces, discovering the textures, details, and stories that make this High Peak town so photographically compelling. Along the way you will be guided in how to see and compose images as you walk — learning simple techniques for capturing architecture, light, and the character of place, whatever your level of experience and whatever camera you are using.

This is a walk for everyone whether you are a seasoned photographer or picking up a camera for the very first time. The pace is gentle, the atmosphere is friendly, and the conversation is as important as the photography. We will walk whatever the weather so please dress appropriately for the conditions.

The walk concludes at a local lunch venue to be confirmed where participants are welcome to stay on for a late lunch and drinks, or simply drinks, at their own cost. 10 days before the walk participants will be asked whether they plan to join for food and drinks or drinks only, so we can make the appropriate arrangements.

All proceeds from the walk go directly towards Dark Peak Photo CIC's community photography activities and annual Photography Festival in Glossop.

What to bring: Your camera or smartphone, appropriate clothing for the weather, and a curiosity for the world around you.

Booking: £20 per person. Places are limited  book early to avoid disappointment

Light and Stone is part of the High Peak Walking Festival 2026, in partnership with High Peak Borough Council and Visit Peak District.
