About Rock Scrambling (weaseling) with Lithosphere Expeditions

Peak District Weaselling & Rock Scrambling Weaselling is the ultimate rock scrambling adventure through the natural passages, tunnels, and boulder mazes of the Peak District's iconic gritstone outcrops. Guided by a qualified geologist, you won't just scramble over the rocks—you'll discover the fascinating 320-million-year history of how they were formed as you twist, turn, and squeeze through the landscape.

What to Expect:

  • The Activity: An immersive, 2 to 3-hour session navigating natural gaps, tight squeezes, and thrilling overhangs.
  • The Geology: Get up close with Carboniferous millstone grit, weathered over millions of years to create a spectacular natural playground.
  • Small Group Focus: We keep our group sizes small to ensure you get plenty of personalized guidance and maximum time on the rock.

Iconic Locations: We run our weaselling sessions at some of the region's most famous and spectacular outcrops, carefully chosen for their unique formations:

  • Burbage Valley
  • The Roaches

Who is this for? A firm favorite for families, stag and hen groups, and corporate team-building events looking for something genuinely different. No previous experience is required, and all necessary safety equipment is provided by your guide.
