Stop 1

Short walk from New Mills

New Mills is a town with a rich history, set high above a spectacular gorge, known as The Torrs, where the River Sett meets the River Goyt. Explore the town on the charming Edith Nesbit walk - this lovely route takes you past the historic mills and bridges of New Mills and out on field paths and quiet lanes into the countryside setting of Edith Nesbit’s famous book, The Railway Children. There are stunning views of the Goyt Valley throughout the walk and a pretty return to your start point via the Peak Forest Canal.

Climb to Windgather Rocks from Whaley Bridge

Whaley Bridge is a small High Peak town with a huge amount to offer! Start here for a beautiful walk to the rocky heights of Windgather Rocks, For refreshments before or after your walk, treat yourself to delicious brownies and traybakes from the Bridge Bake House.

Chapel en le Frith
Stop 3

Walk to Eccles House from Chapel-en-le-Frith

The pretty town of Chapel-en-le-Frith (meaning Chapel in the Forest) was established in the 12th Century and it is often referred to as the ‘Capital of the Peak’. A great starting point for a circular walk up to the viewpoint at the top of Eccles Pike (370m) for stunning views across the Peak District hills.

Admire the view from Solomons Temple

The beautiful town of Buxton is a perfect place to explore! Try this lovely circular walk to Solomons Temple, the route takes you past some of Buxton’s most beautiful historic sights, through quiet woodlands and out to the Victorian folly of Solomon’s Temple at the top of Grin Low Hill, from where you have magnificent views across the surrounding High Peak countryside.
