While the Shelby family’s story is set in Birmingham, many of the show’s most atmospheric scenes were filmed right here in Derbyshire.
The grit and glamour of Peaky Blinders has captivated audiences across the globe. Many of the show’s scenes for both the TV series and the brand new feature film were filmed right here in Derbyshire. With its wild moorlands, dramatic valleys and historic market towns, the Peak District offers the perfect backdrop for your own Peaky-inspired escape.
Calke Abbey – Thomas Shelby’s new home
Calke Abbey stars in the new Peaky Blinders film, 'The Immortal Man'. Chosen for its raw authenticity, Calke Abbey’s atmospheric interiors, peeling paintwork and historic Stableyards provided the perfect backdrop for the new Peaky Blinders film - with iconic scenes filmed throughout the house and estate.
From 14 March, visitors can explore Calke’s on-screen transformation with new walking routes, behind-the-scenes displays inside the house, and interpretation across the Stableyards revealing movie magic in action.
A Ridge walk along the Dragon's Back
Set in 1933, the last scenes of the sixth and final series were shot in Derbyshire - Thomas Shelby could be seen outside his gypsy caravan overlooking Chrome Hill, also known as Dragon’s Back. Enjoy a walk along the dramatic ridge of the Dragon’s Back. This striking limestone spine rises above the White Peak, offering sweeping views and cinematic moorland atmosphere.
Explore the elegant Chatsworth House
If you're looking for May Carleton's mansion, featured in season two of Peaky Blinders, then Chatsworth House is the place! The stunning historic building is perfect for aristocratic horse-trainer May Carleton. Explore the opulent interiors, stroll through landscaped gardens, and enjoy lunch in the estate café. It’s easy to picture high-stakes conversations unfolding in such impressive surroundings.
Follow Peak Blinders through the Peaks at Froggart Edge
Rugged, windswept and wonderfully atmospheric, Froggatt Edge provided a striking backdrop for scenes in Peaky Blinders. It’s dramatic gritstone cliffs and sweeping views across the Hope Valley helped create dramatic scenes. Follow this picturesque moorland walking route taking in Froggatt Edge, Curbar Edge and White Edge. With views across the expanse of Big Moor, it’s easy to see why this wild corner of the Peak District was chosen as a backdrop to the series.
Step back in time to the 1930s
From vintage trams to classic motorcars, you can immerse yourself in the sights, sounds and stories of a bygone era.
Ride the Rails at Crich: Set in rolling hills overlooking the Derwent Valley, Crich Tramway Village is home to the National Tramway Museum and a beautifully recreated period street.
