    Surrounded by lush meadows and bluebell woods on this family run sheep farm in the Peak District National Park with the famous ‘disappearing’ Manifold river nearby.

    This warm and homely cottage caters for 6 guests in 3 bedrooms with a layout that suits couples, families and friends. There is a dining room with unbelievable views and a large lounge with a blazing log fire, perfect for those cosy nights in. We are a Pet Free Property.

    Wander down Paradise Walk to the tearooms at Ilam Park and enjoy a hot chocolate and one of their delicious brownies. Or extend your walk to the famous Dovedale Stepping Stones, 2.5 miles from the cottage. Or climb Bunster Hill, Thorpe Cloud and explore Thor’s Cave – all local to Ilam.

    The landscape is perfect for walking and cycling, there is a vast network of footpaths and cycle routes to enjoy (lots of information and walking books in the cottage).

    Excellent cycle routes and bike hire locally at Waterhouses or Ashbourne. Cyclists can use the Manifold Trail, the Tissington Trail, the Monsal Trail or even a loop around Carsington Water.

    Places to enjoy during your stay include – Tissington (and the Well Dressings if you come in mid May), Chatsworth House, Alton towers, Haddon Hall, Uttoxeter Racecourse, Trentham Gardens and Monkey Forest and the National Memorial Arboretum. A must if you have children is the Peak Wildlife Park, 10 minute drive. You can see polar bears and penguins, mischievous meerkats and so much more.

    Browse the excellent Monday market in Bakewell, promenade through Buxton’s beautiful Pavilion Gardens, or visit the Staffordshire Potteries. Visitors can play golf, or go fishing, horseriding or caving. There is no limit to the fun you can have when you stay at The Orchards, no matter what time of year you visit.
