Route: Our walk leaves Edale Village and ascends steeply up to Ringing Roger, an extraordinary rock formation typical of the Dark Peak District’s edges. An easy walk continues along the escarpment’s edge to the summit of Grindsbrook Knoll, before heading towards the Peak District’s highest trig point at Kinder Low (2076ft/633m). There is plenty to see on our way, including strange-shaped rocky tors with far reaching views of the Edale Valley below. We pick up the famous Pennine Way near Edale Rocks, before crossing over high moorland to the other side of the valley. Here we follow Rushop Edge – a beautiful grassy ridge with great views back towards Kinder Scout. Our final summit is Mam Tor, the site of an ancient hill fort, before gradually descending via Edale’s Great Ridge back to our starting point.
