Ghost Tales at Bolsover Castle - selected dates in October
Do you dare explore Bolsover Castle in the dark this Halloween? Join our storytellers as they guide you on a journey through the past, with tales of ghosts, supernatural sightings and horrors from history.
Four performers will share spine-echilling ghost stories around the site, with many interactive twists and turns. Over 16s only, and don’t forget to bring a torch – things are going to get dark…
Search for Tommy Knockers at the Heights of Abraham - 19 October 3 November 2024
Find some spooky family fun at the Heights this October half term. Meet Belinda Broomsticks for some fortune telling and find the Tommy Knockers for a chance to win a golden ticket.
Matlock Bath Illuminations – every Sat & Sun until 27 October 2024
A firm favourite in Derbyshire's annual calendar of events, Matlock Bath Illuminations is a fun-packed family spectacular featuring a magnificent parade of illuminated and decorated boats along the River Derwent. The 2024 season will run every Saturday and Sunday night from 7th September to 27th October, with fireworks finales every October Saturday and the final night, 27th October.
Halloween Half Term at Bolsover Castle - 26 October to 3 November 2024
Gather your little monsters for a ghoulishly good day out at Bolsover Castle this half term. Follow the quest to solve creepy clues and gather round to listen to spooky stories.
Performers will lead you through a spooky Victorian-themed experience, as you enjoy captivating storytelling, embark on a story walk with eerie tales, and participate in thrilling Vampire sword schools.
Hardwick Hallowtide – 19 October to 3 November 2024
Celebrate an Elizabethan Hallowtide at Hardwick Hall this half term - follow a family trail and enjoy spooky activities such as Witches hat hoopla, broomstick barefoot walk and dark story telling.
Chatsworth Bonfire & Fireworks – 1 & 2 November 2024
Enjoy a blazing bonfire in the garden at Chatsworth with family entertainment and two spectacular fireworks displays, including an earlier display designed especially for our youngest visitors. You can also tuck into a selection of seasonal food, from hog roasts to churros and sweet treats. Round it off with a glass of mulled wine or cider – the ultimate winter warmers.
Spooky Halloween fun at Crich Tramway Village – 28 October to 1 November 2024
Have some scarily good fun this half term at Crich Tramway Village. Take a Halloween trail though the woodland walk and enjoy Halloween shows every day with Maria onboard a tram. For those who don’t want anything too scary, you can enjoy non Halloween shows with Pinxton Puppets every day in the Learning Centre.

Derby Fireworks & Fun Fair – 2 November 2024
This popular Fireworks Night & Fun Fair event at The Incora County Ground will see a huge array of bright colours and awe-inspiring pyrotechnics illuminate the skies over Derbyshire to kick off Bonfire Night season!
The event will also feature a huge Fun Fair, with rides, games and tasty treats for the whole family. Buy your tickets in advance to avoid missing out!
Fang-tastic Halloween Festival on the farm – 26 October to 1 November 2024
Matlock Farm Parks Fang-tastic Halloween Festival is back! Great Halloween entertainment for the kids with a pumpkin patch to pick you own FREE pumpkin for each child entry ticket holder! A spooky trail in the Forbidden Forest, a headless horseman and other fun Halloween characters. A great day out for all the family!
